The best boxing combinations

If you are a beginner, boxing combinations among other things, are some skills that you must master.

It’s required of you to master some basic combinations to win any fight either in training or during a professional match.

You must have seen some professionals throwing punches to the whirlwind.

They aren’t just doing it for fun.
They are trying to master and improve on a boxing combination.

You will learn a few simple and basic boxing combinations that are very effective as you keep reading.

1-2

This is basically the first boxing combination that every beginner should learn.

You have probably done this combination unknown to you even before you started boxing.

The fast jab will help you catch your opponent off guard while you use the right cross to punch his head. This simple boxing combination can actually win you a fight if you master it.

1-1-2

This combination aims at tricking your opponent.

Your challenger may just be expecting a 1-2 meanwhile you can use the second jab to strike his head.

You can also use this boxing combination if you feel that your challenger wants to counter. 1-1-2 can also help you open up your challengers defense.

1-2-3

This boxing combination is quite interesting.

When you shift your weight, it causes the right hand to set in the left hook up.

With this combination, your aim should be the jaw of your opponent. Frankly, this combination is quite dangerous if it gets your opponent.

1-2-3-2

What you have here is a combination of Jab-Cross-Hook-Cross.

It could also be interpreted as throwing LEFT plus RIGHT plus LEFT plus RIGHT punches.

The jab breaks your opponent's defense.

As soon as the opponent’s defense is open, you can hit with three power punches. You need to practice more to effectively use this boxing combination.

1-2-5-2

The simple interpretation is Jab plus Cross plus Left uppercut plus Cross.

With this combination, you can knock your opponent out. The left uppercut will definitely come as a surprise to your opponent.

The left uppercut will help you pop your opponent’s head off so that you can chop it off with your right hand.

1-6-3-2

Simply put Jab plus Right uppercut plus left hook and a Right hand.

If you start with the usual 1-2 combination, your opponent can easily predict your next move.

Try aiming the right uppercut to trick your opponent, then use the left hook  and finish with a right hand.

However, you must be careful because this move will expose your head to jabs. So ensure that you are not predictable when trying out this combination.

2-3-2

It is a combination of Right cross plus Left hook and Right cross. Most often, it is very difficult to set up an entire combination.

This box combination will be very useful if you have a very aggressive opponent.

Just drop a right hand on him, follow it with a left hook and a right hand finish. This combination is very effective at close range.

The Best Boxing Stance

Maybe the very first thing a boxer needs to learn at the start is this one – finding and mastering the stance perfect for his body and technique.

Actually, there is a big number of stances today (crouch, semi-crouch, cross-guard, philly shell, upright, peek-a-boo…) and each of them has its own positive and negative sides.

Of course, there is no stance that can make you win every time or such a thing.

One must do kind of research and find out which one of them is the most suitable for his body/technique for different matches and different situations.

So, every boxer who wants to be as good as possible should learn more about all of them.

But, let start from the beginning and explain why the good stance is essential for both offence and defence.

Every professional needs a stance that will make him powerful, well balanced, flexible but still pretty stable so he can be more productive at ring.

Moving quickly without exposing any part of the body, throwing explosive punches and avoid the opponent – all of this depends on a stance.

If you have learned that all the power in punching comes from your legs pushing off the floor, you will know how important is to have a good position of feet.

BASIC TIPS:

There are two main stances – usually right handed boxers put the left foot forward (orthodox stance) and those who are left handed do the opposite (southpaw stance).

In both cases front arm protects the face and the back one does the same with the body.

Remember that chin is down for the same reason (protection) and elbows are near to the body to save the ribs from punches.

Whichever you choose as the most appropriate, have in mind that hips, shoulders and arms should be relaxed.

Keep the knees a little bit bent and keep the balance between the weight on front and weight of the back leg.

Don’t make a mistake by putting too much weight on the front leg, which is something many boxers do.

Make sure you feel solid over both of them.

Your feet shouldn’t be in line.

Try to put foot on an angle so you can defend yourself easier, but don’t stand too sideways because you will not have good reach for both hands.

Toes should be in the width of the shoulder or just a little bit wider.

If they are too close all you can get is a bad balance; if they are too wide mobility’s level will be much lower (which may be a good thing only if you are defending yourself).

Additionally, heel of the back foot is always a little bit lifted which provides more mobility.

Dropping rear guide, putting front hand too low, standing too square or too straight are some of the most common mistakes beginners make.

Don’t be one of them – put the effort into mastering the stance perfect for you and you will not regret it.

How to Punch Faster In Boxing

Why do you actually need to punch faster?

It is simple – if you throw a lot of punches in short period of time you will be able to land more of them and confuse the opponent.

And this is very important thing in Boxing

Being faster usually means being more dominant and making the guy in front of you follow your pace.

Working on making reflexes faster can lead to the winning the match after match.

Don’t take the strength as a most powerful weapon because it doesn’t really matter.

If the opponent is faster so you don’t see the punch is coming than it will not end in a good way for you.

It is true that punching speed partially depends on genetics, but that doesn’t mean one can’t improve it.

There are few strategies to do this. Let’s see the most important ones.

Mental exercises

It is useful if you visualize punching faster; make this picture in your head on daily basis and soon there will be a positive result.

Maybe slow punching is just one of the bad habits which could be changed easily.

Don’t hold back yourself, show your full potential instead and believe you could be much faster.

In many cases low speed is something you just got used to, but not your limit. Don’t forget that mind should work quick enough, just like the eyes.

Try to be aware in any moment what is happening around you.

Be sure you make a difference between punching faster and harder.

Don’t think about how to hurt someone more, but just take care of speed.

Keep the eye on the target and watch it carefully.

There is one more mental exercise – try to imagine punching the opponent without him seeing that.

When you make combinations don’t separate them in your mind on many individual moves – one combination must stay as one whole picture in your head so it could be realized in no time.

Breathing

Fast punching must be combined with fast breathing – there is no other way. Practice inhaling before punching and exhaling after throwing the one and you’ll see the difference.

Relaxing

Although it sounds strange, don’t be clenched when you are trying to do this in a quick way. Let your punches flow naturally and you’ll spend less time on them.

Physical exercises

Of course, there are physical exercises useful for increasing speed. Jumping rope is one of them as it can make your reflexes quicker.

Don’t forget the floor to ceiling bag, just like practicing with speed bag and double-end bag. Plyometrics training is recommended as well.

Actually, each exercise where you need to make many movements in short period of time is good for practicing.

It is interesting that you can use weighted gloves for that matter, too.

When this type of Boxing gloves is on hands it is harder to move, but when you take them off it will increase the speed.

The same effect comes with running with heavy objects in your hands.
